10 Years is an alternative metal/hard rock band formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2002. They released their independent album Killing All That Holds You in 2004, with the songs “Wasteland” and “Through The Iris” picking up regional radio play. 10 Years was then signed to Republic/Universal in 2005 and released their major label debut, The Autumn Effect on August 16, 2005. That same summer the band toured with Disturbed and Ill Nino. In the fall of 2005, they toured with Breaking Benjamin and Smile Empty Soul, then followed up with the Masters of Horror tour with Mudvayne and Sevendust. They are set to tour with Korn in an upcoming North American trek in February 2006.
Their first single, “Wasteland” has spent over 6 months on the Rock charts, finally reaching #1 at Active Rock in December. In mid February 2006, “Wasteland” reached # 1 on both Alternative and Billboard Modern Rock charts. 10 Years taking the # 1 position marks the first band since June 2004 to reach # 1 with their debut single. The perch at the top puts 10 Years in the highly esteemed company of Foo Fighters, Weezer, and Nine Inch Nails—who have all held the # 1 position in the last few months.
Their music video for “Wasteland”, being their first video, addresses the social problem of human rights around the world, their lyrics for the song being just as deep. This topic made the video a serious one, following such video’s as Korn’s “Falling Away From Me” which addressed abusive homes and Billy Talent’s “Nothing to Lose”, which addressed adolescent bullying at school.
On March 27th, an EP was released on iTunes containing acoustic versions of “Wasteland” and other tracks from their debut album The Autumn Effect.
