Kagerou is a Japanese Visual Kei rock band. Kagerou began in September of 1999, formed by three people: vocalist Daisuke, bassist MASAYA, and guitarist Yuana.
In 2000, Kagerou transferred labels onto "Lizard," a division of the label Free Will. ALL PVs are shot and made by company VISUAL TRAP, and has been thus since their first PV, or "promotional video."
There are many sub-genre's of Visual Kei (such as EroGuro, Angura Kei, Oshare Kei, Nagoya Kei, et cetera). Kagerou's sub-genre has been disputed recently, though some fans call them EroGuro or Japanese Metal. The reason for confusion is the recent changes Kagerou has been through. They use less makeup and have simplified their stage outfits, although that did not make them "drop" the Visual Kei title.
Kagerou means "mayfly" in Japanese. These insects have very small life spans and die within just six months to three years. Vocalist Daisuke has suffered from heart related problems since infancy. Everyday there is a chance "he could fall," as does the mayfly. "Live your every minute as if it were your last, not scared but filled with the most joyous moments," for life is the mayfly as summed up by vocalist Daisuke.
